Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is a breath-centered practice created for individual needs. This transformative healing yoga addresses the whole person. Treatment protocol is based on a person's age, body type, lifestyle, diet, physical and emotional landscape.

Primary tools are breathing techniques, movement (usually gentle), sound, visualization and active meditation.

Relationship is key to healing. The heart exchange between teacher and student is vital.

Therapeutic yoga is taught one to one, in the tradition originally conveyed for hundreds of years. My healing yoga training is based on Indian subtle anatomy internal energy dynamics from the KYM lineage (Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India). It expands beyond the Physical Therapy approach, found most often in Western therapeutic yoga.

Most effective results happen by doing a properly designed yoga practice daily. (usually 20-40 min in length). The daily repetition establishes new patterns of energy in mind and body. Changes are often noticed in 90 day cycles. By creation of these new pathways, balance and a sense of well-being emerges on all levels. New positive life choices become easier. Gifts of health, insight and clarity are gained.

Sattva is the state of being clear, calm and alert. The goal of yoga is one-pointed focus. Healing Yoga can create a daily experience of sattva, the result of one pointed focus. In this state we are free from suffering and healing happens.
